Multi-Billion Naira Road Construction Projects Flagged Off in Doma

Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma has flagged off the construction of six multi-billion Naira roads in Nasarawa State. The contracts for the roads were awarded about two weeks ago by the Nasarawa State Government.
Flagging off the construction of the Doma - Akwatta road at Doma today, Governor Akwe Doma said the roads were a fulfilment of his electioneering campaigns, to provide infrastructural facilities with a view to opening up all parts of the State to opportunities for rapid socio-economic development.
The construction of the road which is the first phase of the Doma to the Benue State border, was awarded to Messrs PW Nig. Ltd. at a total cost of Three Billion, Seven Hundred and Sixty-six Million, Two Hundred and Sixteen Thousand, Three Hundred and Seventy-four Naira (N3,766,216,374.00), with a completion period of 18 months.
An unprecedented crowd witnessed today's ceremonies which were long expected.
In a speech at the ceremony, the Commissioner for works, Housing and Transport, Engr. Ofoku Giza, said the road was in fulfilment of His Excellencies 13-point agenda and was the first among many roads to be flagged off soon.
The Chairman of PW Nigeria Ltd, Lt. General Garba Duba (rtd.) said the company was proud to be associated with the development initiatives of the Nasarawa State Government in the provision of infrastructures to rural areas. He promised that the company will do achieve targets for the road and deliver on schedule. As part of the company’s social responsibility, he promised that the firm will renovate parts of the Doma South Primary school.
The occasion was attended by top Government dignitaries as well as members of the National Assembly and traditional rulers.
