The rector of Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr. Danjuma Ismaila Isah, has called on the academic staff in the institution to put in more effort to enable it maintain its high standard.

Dr. Isah made the call last week while speaking at a workshop for heads of department, examination officers, registration officers and time- table co-ordinators organised by the College of Administrative Studies and Social Sciences (CASSS) of the polytechnic, in Kaduna.

He also called on the academic staff to put the interest of the institution above their personal interests so as to ensure academic excellence.

He said the workshop was aimed at capacity building and enhanced productivity, stressing that the objectives of the workshop are in conformity with the vision of his administration to boost efficiency through continuous dislogue.

Dr. Isah then urged the participants to be good listeners so that at the end of the exercise they would be able to link theory with practice.

In her speech, the director of College of Administrative Studies and Social Sciences (CASSS), Hajiya Asmau Maikudi, stressed the importance of training and retraining.

According to her, training and retraining of lecturers was the key to ensuring academic excellence.

Hajiya Asmau described the workshop as timely, saying it would assist in finding ways of improving performance of academics so as to achieve the desired objectives.

In a related development, Kaduna Polytechnic has promised to do all it could to enhance sporting activities in the institution.

The rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Danjuma Ismaila Isah, made the promise while speaking at the 28th  mini Olympic sports festival of the polytechnic staff school penultimate weekend.

He said the festival was not only to boost their academic activities but to unravel their rich sporting talents.

In her speech, the head-teacher of the school, Mrs. A. Y. Buden, said the festival was the experimental stage of learning where the pupils try to acquire knowledge and skills.

At the end of the 28th mini- olympic sports festival, Green  House emerged the overall best with 246 points, Blue House came second with 248 and Red House came third with 232 points while Yellow House came fourth with 149 points.
