Nasarawa State is a highly agrarian State with a large percentage of its populace engaged in farming and agro-allied activities. The State lies within the guinea Savannah region of Nigeria which has the most fertile soils in the whole of Nigeria. The soils of the various parts of Nasarawa State are good for the farming of all sorts of crops, and the State shares in the benefits of the Benue River Valley. The Nasarawa State Agricultural Development Programme (NADP) has been in the forefront of providing improved seed and plant varieties to all the farmers in the State thereby improving crop yields for the farmers.
