Nasarawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board

The Board was established in November, 1996. Its main schedule is the conduct of the annual Pilgrimage to the Holy places located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In the execution of this schedule, the Board handles such vital issues like pilgrims’ accommodation in the holy-land, passports, visas, basic traveling allowances and other relevant documents for the pilgrims. Nasarawa State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board

The Board is responsible for the organization of pilgrimage to Israel and other holy places in the Christian world. The Board is responsible for ensuring that Christian pilgrims are taken to the pilgrimage and that they arrive back to Nigeria safely. Phone: +234 (47) 21338

Nasarawa State Primary Education Board

The Board is responsible for the administration of Primary school Education in the State. An Executive Chairman heads the Board. Its management includes the Chairman and 2 permanent members and a Secretary. The Board oversees a total of 981 Primary Schools in the State with a total enrollment of 373,950 pupils. Nasarawa State Agency for Adult and Non-formal Education

Established in October 1996, the objectives of the opening are as follows:

to formulate a policy for adult and non-formal education towards the eradication of illiteracy
to provide avenues for continuing vocational educational programmes outside the formal school system
to foster positive attitudinal charges among people for a sound comprehensive development.

Hospitals Management Board.

The Board is headed by a Chief Medical Director and is composed of eight departments including Medical and Pharmaceutical departments.

Nasarawa Specialist Hospital, Lafia

The major objectives of the Board are:- the attainment of optimal health care for the citizenry of the State; the provision of secondary health care through the 13 Cottage and General Hospitals located in each of the 13 Local Government Areas of the State. The Board also administers the State Specialist Hospital located in Lafia.

Bureau For Lands Survey And Town Planning.

The Bureau, which was established at the creation of the State, has the general objectives of:

land Policy formulation and implementation
Physical Planning Policies
Survey and demarcation services.

The Bureau is managed by a Permanent Secretary who is the Chief Executive/Accounting Officer of the Bureau and a Management Committee made up of all the Directors in the Bureau. It is the function of the Bureau to register and process all land allocation applications from individuals and corporate organizations. Phone: +234 (47) 21027

Nasarawa Broadcasting Service.

The Nasarawa Broadcasting Service was established by Edict No: 19 of 1998. Its major function is to provide radio and Television Services on behalf of the State Government. It is the medium for the promotion of formal and informal education, Social welfare, information dissemination and entertainment through radio and television. Phone: +234 (47) 21880

Relevant Technology Board.

The Relevant Technology Board was established by Edict No: 18 of 1998 with the aim of training school leavers in simple construction techniques. In doing this, the Board emphasises on the use of local technology for development. The ultimate objective is to reduce unemployment in the society and increase the earning capacity of school leavers.

Nasarawa State Water Board.

The main functions of the water Board include the provision of good pipe borne water to all urban and semi urban areas of the state through abstracting raw water, treating it and distributing (the potable water) to customers. The water supplied by the Board confirms to the World Health Organisation standards for water treatment through coagulation, filtration and dis-infection using appropriate chemicals. The Board is also the custodian of all surface and ground water reserves in the state.

Nasarawa State Pensions Boards

The Pensions Board was created in February 1998 and it has a Chairman and two Board members. The roles of the Board include the effective administration of pensions in the State and the prompt payment of gratuities and other benefits to retirees.

Nasarawa State Hotels and Tourism Board

With the high potentials for tourism that exists in the State, there has been established a Nasarawa State Tourism Board whose function it is to develop the tourist board ensures that all the tourist attractions in the State are properly developed and advertised.
